Rooster Booster 5/1 As the current holder of the Champion Hurdle it is hard to ignore the chances of Rooster Booster. Winning five of his six races before the 2003 Festival he was viewed as the value bet in many quarters at 9/2. Under Richard Johnson he left the field in his wake when asked to quicken and won by an impressive eleven lengths. Rooster Booster has only ridden at Cheltenham Festival twice (also winning the County Handicap Hurdle in 2002) and it is hard to imagine his third visit will be uneventful.
Rhinestone Cowboy 10/1 The Jonjo O'Neill trained Rhinestone Cowboy went off as the 5/2 favourite in the 2003 Champion Hurdle and finished a promising third. Despite several jumping mistake throughout the race he continued to battle on and stayed on well in the final furlongs. Rhinestone Cowboy finished a creditable second to Pizarro (an unlucky second in the 2003 Novices Hurdle) and is impossible to discount for the 2004 Festival. |
